With the launch of our fancy new website, we are happy to announce the newest addition to our team, Rachel Follender! As our Digital Marketing Coordinator, Rachel has been with us since March – though her story begins long ago in a far-away land.
Rachel was born and raised in Nashua, New Hampshire – the second largest city in the state, just minutes north of Boston. She attended college at the University of New Hampshire (UNH), where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in English/Journalism, with a concentration in Communications.
The bulk of her undergraduate studies included extensive writing and literature, newswriting and digital media production coursework. Rachel spent the summer of 2012 abroad at Cambridge University in the UK, where she studied Shakespeare and Travel Writing.
Throughout her college career, Rachel also worked as a Staff Writer for The New Hampshire: UNH’s collegiate newspaper. It was at this position where Rachel garnered her first professional newsroom experience – publishing several weekly stories, videos and working in collaboration with the editorial staff to put together the bi-weekly publication. Specializing in features and news, Rachel covered topics ranging from the 2012 New Hampshire Presidential Primary to the Boston Marathon bombings.
After graduating in May of 2013, Rachel began her internship at Seacoast Media Group – A Northeast news conglomerate that publishes several newspapers and other publications for distribution to Maine and New Hampshire coastal cities.
Rachel spent her time as an intern reporting on local news, events and government, in addition to writing longer-form human-interest stories and implementing social media for online platforms. After completing her internship, Rachel continued working for Seacoast Media Group as a signed freelance writer.
This overlapped her stint at 7th Settlement Brewery – a locally owned, farm-to-table restaurant located in Downtown Dover – where she spearheaded marketing and advertising campaigns for the establishment. It was here where Rachel began developing her interests in digital marketing.
After twenty-three years in New England, Rachel decided it was time for a change. In the summer of 2014 she packed up her Honda Accord and made the 2,000-mile journey from Boston to Denver. After several months in the city however, the mountains started calling, so she relocated to Frisco at the beginning of March.
Despite the lack of ocean, the mountains feel like home to Rachel, who grew up waterskiing in the summers, snowboarding in the winters and hiking the White Mountains year-round. In addition to being part of our team, Rachel will be spending her weekends next winter as a snowboard instructor at Vail.
Rachel brings her strong writing and editing skills to Imagine That – a must have for the production of high-quality content we guarantee our clients. As our Digital Marketing Coordinator, she works with clients to implement marketing and branding strategies across all platforms.
Rachel came to Colorado for a change of scenery, but says she’s staying for the fresh powder and handcrafted beer. And just in case things don’t work out as a professional snowboarder… she plans on pursuing her career in Marketing and Advertising.
