Not Just a Bird, Hummingbird A New Look for SEO Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary defines a hummingbird as a very small, brightly colored American bird that has wings which beat very fast. Well, for some reason Google likes to implement names of animals in their algorithms for keyword relevance and link building and according to Google, Hummingbird was named what it is because the bird is “precise and fast” just like their new algorithm.
