Third Day – SXSW

Mar10
2013
Written by Tom Fellner

So, it’s day three of the Interactive segment of South By Southwest in Austin, Texas. The clock jumped ahead during the night and the strangely empty hallways of the Austin Convention Center suggests that a lot of people forgot to change their clocks. Well, that doesn’t make sense; most of the participants are using smartphones (the overwhelming majority, iPhones; just an observation) so the empty halls must be attributed to the many late night parties – those and the loss of an hour’s sleep – yeah that makes sense.

My business partner, Tom and I are at the registrant’s lounge starting the day with carbs and coffee. Reflecting back over the last couple days I ask myself, “What is the primary value of attending an event like this?”

Well, one thing is that the experience has been incredibly validating. As a digital marketing company it is very encouraging to attend sessions facilitated by personnel from Google and Bing and get it straight from the horse’s mouth (Sorry Matt) that what we are doing to help our clients with SEO is spot on. Yeah, that’s good.

Certainly learning new online marketing strategies and ways to mash up social media, content development, and multimedia to create a diverse marketing platform was worth the trip and expense. But as good and as validating as the sessions have been, the biggest take away from SXSW has been the renewing of vision for Imagine That as a company and for me as an Internet marketer.

Being surrounded by the energy of some 60,000 people all passionate about what they do stirs the fire in my soul. It reminds me that we are bigger than the sum of our skills, and that we bring a lot to the table when it comes to helping our Summit County businesses in their online marketing efforts.

Brand Discovery Sessions

Imagine That Branding Denver Colorado

Imagine That love startups. Heck we used to be one ourselves. That is why we have put together a range of comprehensive brand discovery session packages for our clients. Whether you are a small startup who are looking to build a national brand, a large established organization who want to redefine their brand, or a medium sized business who wishes to overhaul their brand image we have a package to suit your needs. As we always tell our clients your brand is so much more than a logo or name. Business’s success and failure can ride on the strength and strategy behind their branding.

One of our newest clients are going to change the parameters of classroom learning with their revolutionary new product. (Obviously as they are still in the development stage we cannot give away too much but this is going to be big).

Imagine That Branding Denver Colorado

On Friday the 4th of January 2013 we held the first Brand Discovery Session for our new client. The purpose of the session was to give the both the Imagine That team and our clients a better understanding of the brand and the “why” behind their product. Here at Imagine That we push all our clients to find the why behind their product or service. Customers don’t identify with what you do, they identify with why you do it.

Imagine That Branding Session Cutthroat Anglers

Our Brand Discovery Session forces businesses to take an in-depth look at themselves and drill down to the heart of their purpose. Once we can establish a clear “why” for the business it allows to build a much stronger brand message and materials that convey this “why” to the public.

Imagine That Branding Krystal93 Summit County Colorado

Brand Discovery Sessions form the foundation for product naming, domain registration, logo design, color schemes, website design, print design and marketing message. We always tell our clients that a brand is like an iceberg, the logo and the website are just the tip with the bulk of the brand being the customers perception of your business. Our job as marketers is to ensure that your customers see the “why” of your business and identify with it. This particular client is just beginning their venture but we aim to build a national brand around them and all that starts with unearthing their brand identity.

Breckenridge Race of the Santas December 2012

Digital Santas

Check out our Race of Santas Video at: Imagine That Team at the Race of the Santas Breckenridge

The Imagine That Team were proud to take part in the 2nd annual Race of the Santas held on the 1st of December on Breckenridge Main Street. The race was all about “fun and fundraising” with all the proceeds going to the very worthy Adopt an Angel program.

Founded in 1994 by the Silverthorne Police Department Adopt an Angel program provides a brighter Christmas for families and children who are financially challenged. With the cooperation of Summit County residents and retailers Adopt an Angel was able to provide Christmas presents for 562 children and 254 families last Christmas. To find out more about the program and how to contribute check out their website at http://summitangel.org/

3 Imagine That Santas

Due to the Race of Santas being held for such a worthy cause there was a massive turnout with over 200 people donning their Santa suits to complete the circuit for charity. It was a crisp winter evening with the sun dipping over the mountains as the gaggle of Santas milled to the start line at Breckenridge town center. The Imagine That team had brought candy to give out to the crowds who had turned out to cheer on their favorite Santa. (Which gives you an idea of the pace that the race was run!).

The 2 Mrs Claus

With much cheering, skipping, jogging and shouting we set off down main street to the delight of all the little (and big) kids who had turned out en masse. To see the kids eyes light up when one of the 200 Santas stopped to talk with them and give them a candy cane or 5 was the highlight of the event. Our Head Programmer and Co-owner Jeff was by far the most popular Santa in Breckenridge that evening. With his long white hair and beard, twinkle in his eye and jiggle in his belly kids and adults alike flocked to him to take pictures, whisper their Christmas wishes and get a hug from old Saint Nick. Besides Jeff the next 2 most popular race contestants were Ullr (God of Snow) and the Grinch.

Race of the Santas Breckenridge 2012

After the race there was a raffle and then milk and cookies provided at the red white and blue fire station. The real Santa then arrived to lead the procession to the lighting of the Breckenridge Christmas tree to officially start the holiday season in Summit County. Imagine That were proud to take part in such a worthy event and wish you and yours the very best this holiday season!

Imagine That Teambuilding at Aspen Canyon Ranch

Jul16
2012
Written by Johney Burke

Imagine That Team7th July 2012

The Imagine That team spent last Saturday at our teambuilding event at Aspen Canyon Ranch. Teambuilding is vital for any company big or small. Getting to know your co workers outside of work and forming tight relationships allows you to improve your collaboration on team projects.

Here at Imagine That we value our team ethos very highly and can point to it as being the most important element to our continued success. This is in part down to teambuilding activities like last Saturday at Aspen Canyon Ranch.

Imagine That Team at Aspen Canyon Ranch

The team met down at the Ranch early on a sunny Colorado morn. The Ranch is nestled between the Rockies about 26 miles from Silverthorne Colorado and is home to horseback riding, fly-fishing, ATVing, Skeet Shooting, Rafting and Hunting.

After a brief but hard fought Table Tennis battle between the Big Cheez and the Shamrock Kid (which Ireland won) we had our growth strategy meeting in the authentic Western Lodge to discuss our continued growth in the front range.

Imagine That Foozeball Tourney at the Lodge

After the meeting concluded it was time to saddle up! The Imagine That team assembled at the stables to saddle their mounts for the winding mountain trail. Our excellent guide John led the team up a narrow winding trail through the forest and to the summit of the peak over looking the ranch.

Imagine That Horse Riding Aspen Canyon Ranch

The horses were very well trained although our Web Wizard Jeff Mcelhattan’s horse Ice had a strong temperament and didn’t like being passed! Jeff’s daughter Ivy was riding for the first time and was a natural falling in love with her placid mount named Kansas.

Imagine That Gang at Aspen Canyon Ranch

After trekking up mountains, through forests and forging rivers the Imagine That team were ravenous and we tucked in to delicious cheeseburgers and veggie burgers back down at the lodge.

Imagine That wranglers crossing the river at Aspen Canyon

After lunch it was time to ride something with slightly more “horsepower” (pun intended) with Polaris ATV’s being the vehicle of choice. Aspen Canyon have miles of trails stretching up through the mountain passes and it is an exhilarating experience to fly through the Colorado wilderness on their state of the art 4 wheelers. The guides at Aspen Canyon supplied us with wet gear and helmets and we set out to discover the Colorado back country in our ATV convoy. Yvette Wendy and Helena took to the ATVing instantly and were the most disappointed when the torrential downpour meant we had to turn back early!

The day was ended with a team dinner of Teppanyaki at the local Japanese restaurant. We would like to thank Ryan and the team at Aspen Canyon Ranch for the great hospitality and reiterate that everyone of the team had an amazing time!

What is Pinterest?

Jun25
2012
Written by Tom Fellner

What is Pinterest and how can I use it to benefit my business? Pinterest is a
pinboard-style social photo sharing website created to allow members to create and manage image pinboards based on their various themes and interests such as movies, clothes, hobbies etc. Users can browse each other’s pinboards, ‘re-pin’ images to their own boards and ‘like’ photos on other users boards.

The growth of Pinterest has been phenomenal, after its launch in 2010 it was the fastest site to hit the 10 million unique visitor mark taking only 22 months. Pinterest has recently won the 2012 Webby award for best social media app for their iPhone and iPad apps and are rumored to be about to launch an Android version in the coming days.

Pinterest can work in several different ways depending on the nature of your business but the four main benefits are: Driving Traffic, Creating Warm Leads, Building Links and Increasing Social Sharing.

Due to the visual nature of Pinterest eye-catching images that include website links refer huge volumes of traffic to websites and blogs. In October, the website of Time Inc.’s real Simple magazine got more traffic from Pinterest than Facebook.

Leads from Pinterest tend to be more profitable for companies than Amazon Google and Facebook with an average purchase value of $80 compared to Facebook’s $40.

Links created through visitors using the “pin it” button on any of your pages allow new pinners to discover your site and share your content on their own boards. You can also include links in the descriptions of each pin that improve your SEO.

Pinterest is connected to both Twitter and Facebook allowing pinners to share their pins, boards and interests across multiple pages. Officially Pinterest is not connected to Facebook Brand Pages but through using the Pinterest Tab app by Woolbox on Facebook you can share your business pins on your brand page.

The demographics of Pinterest users are interesting as they vary from country to country but in the USA the most active users are Females accounting for 80% with the majority of these being in the 25-54 age group with a household income of between $25000 and $75000.

Pinterest is all about indirect marketing. Build boards that spark people’s interest and indirectly market your company. If your products are well suited to Pinterest like clothes, animation, DIY or furniture then you can build very engaging boards around themes such as “my favorite spring outfit” or “our new kitchen”. However more functional service providing companies can also create infographics, pin employee activities, create review boards of movies/books/plays and create boards around related interest topics to demonstrate the personality of your brand. With companies like Shopinterest in the pipeline which intend to turn Pinterest into a storefront it is important for every business to create and run their own Pinterest campaign.

Well I had the opportunity last week to attend the “Pick Yourself” Seth Godin Conference in New York. What an amazing week it was hanging out with my buddy Erik Ulstad from Cold Smoke Cargo in the Big Apple. We met so many interesting and inspiring people and learned some great concepts from Mr. Godin. If you haven’t already, check out Seth’s many books on marketing, entrepreneurship and the new economy. Seth’s ideas have certainly inspired the Imagine That team, and we’re sure they will inspire you in your business endeavors as well!

Meet Webster’s Backyard Friends! Imagine That created a custom look and feel design for the Summit County Library Children’s pages. Careful attention was given to make sure the site spoke to the style and design preferences of children. In the process, Imagine That envisioned and created Webster’s Backyard Friends, a host of friendly cartoon characters that are hi-lighted on various pages of the site. The result is a site that creates greater engagement for children and a fun and interactive world for them to explore. Check out summitcountylibraries.org
