The Breckenridge Snow Sculpture Championships were held over the last 3 weeks from January 15th through February 3rd. The sponsors for the event included Budweiser and Breckenridge Ski Resort and there were participants from all over the world attempting to win the coveted Snow Sculpture Crown.Breckenridge Web Design

Our Imagine That design team was invited to help out on the Budweiser Clydesdales team and lend their experience to the competition. Yvette and Tom worked on the Clydesdale and Carriage display and braved the cold to help craft the intricate designs that would hopefully catch the judge’s eye.

With huge amounts of tourists and locals passing through Blue River Plaza to pick their favorite design a lot of local businesses profited from the influx of tourists and there was an international feel to the town as over 14 countries entered teams in the 23rd annual competition.

The overall winner crowned on January 27th was Team Mongolia with their Mongolian Warriors design. Team Catalonia came second with Team Estonia getting third spot. To check out more pictures of the snow sculptures visit our Flickr Photostream.

Steamboat Springs Employee Ski Day

The Imagine That January ski trip took place in Steamboat Springs Ski Resort. The team set off bright and early (sleepy eyed and tousle haired) from Summit County with our ski gear all loaded into the back of the Imagine That wagon. The POA was to ski the length and breadth of Steamboat Mountain before meeting with one of our premier clients Ghost Ranch Restaurant to provide further website training and review their latest SEO report.

Tom, Yvette and Johney were the Imagine That representatives on the trip and tackled the mountain as a team in typical Imagine That fashion. The trio traversed the wide open (slightly icy) runs of Steamboat Resort at high speeds particularly Energia who was a pink blur as she hurtled down the mountain leaving clouds of snow and dazed Texans in her wake.

Steamboat provided great variety for our skiers (and snowboarder) with steep groomed runs, moguls and tree chutes with powder pockets and despite frequently getting lost our team gradually got used to the terrain. Lunch was eaten at the restaurant on Thunderhead peak and provided the energy to ski a couple more runs before the day ended.

Imagine That built a custom designed multimedia website for Ghost Ranch in early 2012 as part of their whole rebranding process and as with all our clients we provide free training on the Content Management System platform we build on. The main purpose of the trip was to provide further training to some of the staff and discuss the success of their Premium SEO plan.

Ghost Ranch very generously provided dinner at the restaurant which was sensational. We sampled the tri tip tacos before getting g stuck into the sumptuous almond crusted trout and finishing it off with a delicious fruit cobbler and root beer float served in a glass boot (which we got to keep!). All in all it was a great day of

Imagine That Teambuilding at Aspen Canyon Ranch

Imagine That Team7th July 2012

The Imagine That team spent last Saturday at our teambuilding event at Aspen Canyon Ranch. Teambuilding is vital for any company big or small. Getting to know your co workers outside of work and forming tight relationships allows you to improve your collaboration on team projects.

Here at Imagine That we value our team ethos very highly and can point to it as being the most important element to our continued success. This is in part down to teambuilding activities like last Saturday at Aspen Canyon Ranch.

Imagine That Team at Aspen Canyon Ranch

The team met down at the Ranch early on a sunny Colorado morn. The Ranch is nestled between the Rockies about 26 miles from Silverthorne Colorado and is home to horseback riding, fly-fishing, ATVing, Skeet Shooting, Rafting and Hunting.

After a brief but hard fought Table Tennis battle between the Big Cheez and the Shamrock Kid (which Ireland won) we had our growth strategy meeting in the authentic Western Lodge to discuss our continued growth in the front range.

After the meeting concluded it was time to saddle up! The Imagine That team assembled at the stables to saddle their mounts for the winding mountain trail. Our excellent guide John led the team up a narrow winding trail through the forest and to the summit of the peak over looking the ranch.

Imagine That Horse Riding Aspen Canyon Ranch

The horses were very well trained although our Web Wizard Jeff Mcelhattan’s horse Ice had a strong temperament and didn’t like being passed! Jeff’s daughter Ivy was riding for the first time and was a natural falling in love with her placid mount named Kansas.

After trekking up mountains, through forests and forging rivers the Imagine That team were ravenous and we tucked in to delicious cheeseburgers and veggie burgers back down at the lodge.

After lunch it was time to ride something with slightly more “horsepower” (pun intended) with Polaris ATV’s being the vehicle of choice. Aspen Canyon have miles of trails stretching up through the mountain passes and it is an exhilarating experience to fly through the Colorado wilderness on their state of the art 4 wheelers. The guides at Aspen Canyon supplied us with wet gear and helmets and we set out to discover the Colorado back country in our ATV convoy. Yvette Wendy and Helena took to the ATVing instantly and were the most disappointed when the torrential downpour meant we had to turn back early!

The day was ended with a team dinner of Teppanyaki at the local Japanese restaurant. We would like to thank Ryan and the team at Aspen Canyon Ranch for the great hospitality and reiterate that everyone of the team had an amazing time!

Meet Webster’s Backyard Friends! Imagine That created a custom look and feel design for the Summit County Library Children’s pages. Careful attention was given to make sure the site spoke to the style and design preferences of children. In the process, Imagine That envisioned and created Webster’s Backyard Friends, a host of friendly cartoon characters that are hi-lighted on various pages of the site. The result is a site that creates greater engagement for children and a fun and interactive world for them to explore. Check out summitcountylibraries.org

The Online World…..for beginners

What is Marketing?

Imagine That Marketing

Marketing is defined by the American Marketing Association as “the activity, set of institutions, and processes for creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners, and society at large.” Marketing is used to identify the consumers needs and wants and to appeal to them with targeted campaigns through a variety of different channels. Digital Marketing involves utilizing all of the available online channels such as Search Engine Optimization, Search Engine Marketing and Social Media Marketing to promote a marketing message. Online Marketing is becoming more and more and more popular and in 2012 is expected to surpass print marketing spend. A recent  eMarketer study claims that online advertising is expected to generate $39.5 billion in sales this year compared to a sum of $33.8 billion on print.  The 2 most  important differences are the measurability of digital marketing with each click and view tracked and the relatively low cost compared to traditional marketing channels.

What is a Blog?

Imagine That Blog

The term blog evolved from web log which was a personal journal published on the web consisting of a series of posts typically displayed in reverse chronological order so the most recent post appears first. Blogs can be the work of an individual, group, or more recently a business or corporation. Blogs often have a specific theme or topic  and have become the most common way of sharing information, interests, ideas and beliefs on the web. Easy to use, free sites such as WordPress, Blogger and Tumblr have made blogging available to anyone with an idea or a penchant for writing. Whole business models have been built around blogs such as Mashable, Techcrunch and CopyBlogger. It has also become a really important tool for SEO generating a significant number of links and utilising the principles of blended and social searching to improve search engine rankings for linked websites.Blogs are also important from a digital marketing perspective as it allows businesses to connect with consumers and convey information in a more informal arena. Blogging is gradually replacing traditional news sources as the most common way to find information.
